Valentines Day <3

Valentines day
a day of love, romance, flowers, and the grandest of sincere gestures....
or is it?
Some people have taken an anti- Valentines approach to February 14th.
Perhaps because they believe that they would be jumping the bandwagon by contributing to the near 15 million (or billion ?) dollar industry based around this day of alleged romance.
Perhaps it seems a tad contrived, obligatory, to participate in this corporate controlled 'love' day.
It is perspective.
I believe that one can still participate in the tradition that is known to be Valentines Day while not breaking the bank and feel like a sheep controlled by Hallamark and the big floral and chocolate industries.

Just follow the rule of KISS. Not real kissing, but the fashion and cosmetic rule that can be applied to everyday professional and casual life.
Keep It Simple [Stupid]
I personally prefer Keep It Simple & Sexy.
Either way, just go back to the basics.
Valentines Day should be a day where it is not assigned to the couples, but can be for everyone. Singles, Families, Friends, and romantic partners as well.
Love everyone; friends, family, partners, yourself, your life.
It can simply be a day where you let those who matter most to you, know that you care!
It can be a day where you take a step back from the hustle and bustle of every day life, and appreciate those around you, as well as yourself and the life you are living.

Don't take anything or anyone for granted.

Make those pillsbury cookies with the heart in the centre and bring them to the office and leave it in the lunchroom, or take them to your neighbour.
Buy cute little kiddy Valentines cards and hand them out to your friends, family.
Who cares if it is immature, because that will not be the focus of the recipient, it will be the gesture of appreciation and like/love.

You can give your closest friends a rose each, or break tradition and hand deliver daisies or lilies!
Even writing a short note, email, text, send a eValentine! Make a phone call!
Treat yourself, have a spa day, at home or the real thing.
Go out with your single friends and live it up instead of sitting at home wallowing in your loneliness thinking about your ex's watching sappy movies and drowning yourself with a pint of Ben and Jerrys Rocky Road.
It won't take alot of time, and it won't bust your wallet,
but you can spread the love.
Feeeellll the Loveeee.
Im really not trying to preach or get cheesy,
but Valentines Day can be a great day.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

I'm with you 100% I think that V-Day also encourages some couples to day a break from the typical, mundane day-to-day stuff and take some time to focus on each other, have a nice dinner or date. Like you said, it can be as cheesy or un-cheesy as you make it.

P.S. Love the blog.
