okay so there was no picture of any award so here goes anyways lol!
1. Shoes!!

I have an insane shoe fetish, I just can't get enough. If I see a beautiful pair of shoes, whether I can buy them or not, I catch my breath and my heart stops. Its love.

2. Travel To Europe

Its just in me to have a need to travel the world, to see what I have never seen, to soak up new and different culture and history. Adventure.!
3. Reading.

Yes, I am a real worm. I read just about anything I can get my hands on. It actually annoys me if I am eating breakfast, or riding a bus and I do not have some sort of literature to read.

4. The Beach

Kick off your sandals and scrunching your toes in the nice warm sand. Feeling the heat of the sun shining on your face. The sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. Sun bathing. Cute bikinis. Whats not to love?

5. Chocolate

I love chocolate. But I am very particular about what kind I eat. My faves are truffles, chocolate covered ginger and strawberries, dark chocolate bars. Do not get me started. More on that in another post lol.
6. The City

Being a country girl my whole life, it has always beens something of a luxury to go into town, no matter what we had to go for. I know it sounds so old fashioned country, but I love strolling downtown, peeping in at original and unique stores. Scoring deals, sipping an iced cappuccino, eating interesting new food at swanky little restaurants. Like Toronto, with its Little Italy, Chinatown, or Greektown.

7. Gettin Dawledd Up!

I don't know why, maybe my inner girly girl, but I love love Love getting dressed up nice and fancy and putting on lotsa pretty make up and doing my hair and just being glamorous. I think it is because it is the opposite of what my life is, so it is a nice getaway and just makes me feel like a woman. (cue Shania Twain. Uh Uh yah yah. Man! feel like a woman!)

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Sorry I am a tad belated.

But I was veryy busy St. Patricks day. Working, celebrating etc.

And to quash any future questions, yes I am indeed Irish. My grandfather came from a hardcore Irish family, although I never met any of them it is the distinct impression I get from my mom and my grandma.

So I though, well, why not share with my fellow bloggers how St.Pattys Day came to be, what it stands for, and the aspects of celebration. Other than booze of course!

St Patrick's Day has its origins in ancient times. Patrick lived in the British Isles, a land invaded and conquered first by the Romans and then by Germanic tribes. Patrick was captured and taken as a slave at the age of sixteen.
Legend has it that one night while he was praying, a voice told him to escape and find a ship that was waiting for him two hundred miles away. Patrick got to the ship, sailed to Europe, and disembarked in what is now probably France. He led several of the ship's crew through a dangerous forest, praying all the time. Neither Patrick nor any member of his crew was captured. When some of the men were about to die of starvation, wild animals appeared for them to eat. Events such as these appeared to be miracles and gave rise to later legends surrounding Patrick.
Once home, Patrick felt that he was called by God to perform an important mission. He believed it was his duty to go back to Ireland and convert the Celtic people to the Christian religion.
Patrick arrived in Ireland and became a missionary, travelling from village to village and talking about his faith. Once, several members of a tribe approached Patrick and told him that they found it difficult to understand and believe in the Holy Trinity. Patrick thought a moment, then stooped down and picked one of the plentiful shamrocks growing wild around Ireland. "Here are three leaves," he said, "yet it is one plant. Imagine the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit as each of these leaves. Here they are, yet they are one plant." The tribesmen understood, because Patrick had used a familiar object to explain. From that time on, the shamrock has been a revered symbol of Ireland.
Stories of Saint Patrick, for by then he was a saint, reached far and wide. His most famous feat is forcing the snakes out of the entire country of Ireland. Even though there are many different stories about how he accomplished such a task, it is probably not true.
St Patrick died on March 17 and the Irish people set aside the day to mourn. He became the patron saint of Ireland. Mourning turned to commemorating him and celebrating his life. Americans have inherited this custom. On St Patrick's Day in the United States and Canada, millions of people celebrate whether they are Irish or not.

Baileys Chocolate Mousse Pie
This recipe sounds delicious, and as soon as I make it I will post a picture and a story about it!

6 ounces Ready Crust (graham/choc)

1 package Unflavored gelatine (env)

1 teaspoon Vanilla

3/4 cup Milk

3/4 cup Bailey's Irish Cream

6 ounces Semisweet choc chips

2 cups Frozen whipped topping

Choc-dipped strawberries**As garnish, if desired.

-- In saucepan, sprinkle unflavored gelatine over milk. Let stand about 1 minute. Stir over low heat until gelatine is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Add chocolate and continue cooking, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted: stir in vanilla. Remove from heat and stir occasionally, adding Bailey's about five minutes after removal from heat. When mixture forms mounds when dropped from spoon, fold in whipped topping.Turn into crust. Garnish with more whipped topping (or real whipped cream, later, by preference) and strawberries (if desired). Chill at least 4 hours before serving.

Hopefully this does not come as a surprise, but most irish dessert recipes include some form of alcohol, be it whiskey, baileys, or Guinness. LOL

And St.Pattys Day would not be complete without one of my granny's favourite Irish drinks

Mix all ingredients (except orange peel) with ice in a shaker or blender. Pour into a chilled Old Fashioned glass. Twist orange peel over drink and add it to the glass. It looks very colourful and pretty, so it is very fun to drink!

Post-it Couture

Looking at the above, ooh pretty dresses right? Yes of course, but they are made of tiny sticky paper notes, commonly referred to as post-it notes. I just watched project runway canada for the first time, as nothing else was on, and I really enjoyed it. In this challenge they were given a little money to buy the base fabric and then over top of the, the entire design of the dress had to be post-it notes. Some competitors were really creative, and spray painted, paper-mached, rolled, folded, etc some of the post-its to enhace the look and design of their dress. The really nice part about this challenge was that the models were all breast cancer survivors, and that the dresses after the challenge were donated to an auction, after which the proceeds of the auction went to the charity. (Breast Cancer Foundation i think...)
My favourite dress was the one just below, now I can't remember the name of who designed it, but I am pretty sure it was the short guy (he is the only on left, so...he is hard to miss.) Unfortunately he did not win the challenge this week, the far left front row dress in the above picture is the winning dress. But check out the gold and blue one. The detail! All of those blue papers were coordinated and then all cut to gie an almost frayed appearance, almost like chiffon or tulle. Even her necklace is made of post-its!

Here are some other post-it pictures I found via Google images. Some people go a little overboard, but I must admit it is entertaining.

Style-Me-Pretty

As previously stated, I need a haircut. Something to bust out for spring.

So I tried out those e-hairdresser websites. And, well, this is what I got.

Feel free to voice your opinions!!! Suggestions taken! :)

So, honestly, I did this collage above like a week ago and I cannot remember for the life of me what virtual hair styler I used. If I remember I will definitely add it in. [Oops!] But the pictures are sourt of blurry, the sites fault not mine.

However, I do remember it being very difficult and did not have a wide range of interesting selection. And all of the long hair dos had to be shortened to fit to my face, therefore only medium length and not long.

I LURVEED Makeover-O-Matic ! It had a fab selection of celebrity hairstyles and it was so easy to work with. I really enjoyed alot of their features. In this shot, the celeb hair I stole were (from top left and working across):Cindy McCain, Cindy McCain, Beyonce Knowles, Angelina Jolie [blond], Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Hayden Panettiere, Heidy Klum, Lindsay Lohan.

In the second set I model: Nicole Ritchie, Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce [again], Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, and Kristin Cavallari.

In the upper right picture, I even was able to do my make up, using slate grey smouldering eyeshadow and some blush, lipstick and hazel eye contacts!

In the picture first in the 2nd row I had slate grey contacts, dark indigo shadow and liner, and Eva Avila Magic Sunset lipstick.

I would have to say the neat feature about this hair styling site is that you can do a total makeover, including full makeup as well as hair. It is very accurate and easy to use. The only downside is that there are only 36 styles to choose from, but it gains variety by the vast amount of colour choice.

I fully recommend anyone and everyone to try this site out!

Don't Be Shy Give It A Try!

Please comment on what hairstyles and colours you like!!!!

I Needa Get Ma Hairs Did

I need to get my hair done. It is seriously overdue for a chop. There is no life, no layers. I have triple split ends! Yes, its possible, its when you have a split end and branching off of that split is anoth, and then another off that. I only saw one, but who says there aren't others?

Its horrifying. I don't know about anyone else, but I have a problem with split ends, because once I spot one, I can't help but sift through my hair looking for others. The greatest temptation comes when I want to bust out a pair of scissors and cut them all off.

OCD a little, right?

But I can't, because my hairdresser says its not good for my hair because the scissors aren't sharp enough, and that it will mess up the layers and the style.

Whatevs. Fine, I need a cut though.

But then comes the life altering and dramatic question . . .

What Style? Because your selection is of utmost importance, because when hair goes wrong...

Dun Dun DUN! Because I think we all have been there...

you know... The time when you are sitting in the chair with the black cape on, and are stunned, horrified, petrified to the point of silence. You have the worst hairdo ever. But you say you love it, thanks, pay your money, and leave.

But it just doesnt feel right inside. Hair heartbreak.

Here is mine. I went to my hair salon, and I had exactly what I wanted in my head. I wanted long side swept bangs, that style that was all the rage. Anyway, so she set about doing. So how hard could it get. Right? Well.... I must illustrate via drawn picture, because I would gesture what happened if you were standing in front of me.

This is what I wanted....>>

Jennifer Aniston, totally gorgeous. That is the hair do I wanted. See, no weird bang snafu.

<

So I said Never Again. I speak up when my hair is being chopped to prevent future butchering. I bring in my own pictures, even draw illustrations of exactly what I want. I then give a direct explanation so they know exactly what I want. Controlling, maybe. But the last thing I want to happen to my hair is to have it look terrible.

But I think this time I will try on some new styles.

Nothin drastic, but a changed for sure. Maybe one of those sites where you take your picture and try new dos.

My Confessions.... (part one)

I think that everyone in the world has a dirty little secret. At least one.
But I am willing to admit to many. So What? And I don't care who hates on me.
But why do we have dirty secrets?
Is it because we believe other people will think of us in a bad way or from a different perspective? Do we have a fear of being judged or rejected?
Or are we afraid to admit it to ourselves?
Maybe it doesn't fit into the portrait of ourselves that we share with the world, or how other people may see us.
I believe that everyone should be proud of those little things that they try to hide.
So, my fellow bloggers, here are a few of mine.
  • Freckles! - Omg, I know, right? I used to hate them, and covered them up with a slick water proof foundation [Covergirl]. But now I embrace it, and I never (almost) wear foundation.
  • I am a HUGE NERD. Yes. Not many of my friends/ acquaintances know this. Its my hidden secret. I love Harry Potter. I lurvve reading books. Or anything for that matter. Put it in front of me, and I will read it. I love Super Mario Brothers video games and Mortal Kombat. And Pokemon on my brothers Game Boy. Oh yes, I would squirrel away his Game Boy when he wasn't watching, and play Pokemon for hours on end while he was looking for it.
  • Im Really good at MATH!. This sort of goes with the above. But it needed its own section. Yes, I am a Calculus & Vectors freak. I think its fun and easy. Im not tryna brag. Just fessin' up.
  • I never do my homework and still get great grades. No lies. I have always been the biggest procrastinator ever. Procrastinating QUEEN. I wouldn't study or do worksheets, and when the test came I pulled 90's out of thin air. I have no clue why. Even as a kid at skating competitions, I got gold or placed top three, by hardly practicing at all. Im sure it will catch up with me.
  • I am S L O W. But only in movies. Sometimes I just can't focus and have a hard time figuring things out. Like one time I was watching a movie and for like 45 minutes I believed that these two totally different characters were the same person. Not my fault they looked the same. Maybe one should have had a tan, a scar, or lighter coloured hair. JEEZ!
  • I lurvve pickle and cheese sandwiches on 12 grain bread. Cheese must be marble, pickles must be gherkins, thinly sliced. Kind of scary picky, but its a childhood fave.

Perhaps there will be a Part Two of My Confessions [cue Usher with rippling abs]

Oh Em Gee

Okay so I thought I would throw out a quick post because just a minute ago I almost had a hernia.
Alright, so not really. But I logged into my Blogger account and saw on my dashboard, as usual, the 'Blogs Im Following' tab. But when I went to look at the latest posts of the blogs I do follow, there was nothing there. It was not that it had not loaded yet, because it had, and it said that I was NOT following any blogs and "heres how to follow a blog blah blah blah..."
"W-W-What?" was what I said. (no literally I did, ask the dust bunnies)
I know some of the urls for the blogs I like, but it is just so convenient that I can click a button and go right to it. Call me lazy.
So I went about business as usual and then went back to my dashboard.
PHEW!!
They are back. And oddly enough, I now appreciate the little "Blogs Im Following" tab.
And I thought. Well lets share with the world some of the blogs I enjoy. :)

Working Girl - I love love LOVE this blog. Working Girl 1 and Working Girl 2 share with the world their adventures, exciting or not, in the working world, as well as the occasional gossip. I believe they are positively contributing to women who read their blog by giving helpful advice as well as a nice dose of laughter. Props WG1 &WG2.

The 411 On Everything Glam - A fun beauty blog I drop by to get my cosmetic fix.

Almost Stylish - More than almost stylish, I would say definitely stylish, but a cute throwback to the Almost Famous movie phrase. It is a girl from Germany (or maybe Austria?) either way she speaks German (I am pretty sure she is, but feel free to correct!) who blogs about her daily outfits and other fashion tidbits.

Cake Wrecks -Now for a girl who loves cake comes a nice kick, a blog about cake success and disasters with an enjoyable comedic twist!

Cupcakes and Yellow Nailpolish - a fellow polyvore whore, Ms M's fashion sense is admirable, and I enjoy her quirky little stories and fun fashion collages.

La Dolce Vita- Another beauty blog that I enjoy because of its uniqueness and fun bold ideas.

Why Women Hate Men
- the title speaks for itself, it is a hands down hilarious blog about the many far fetched crazy things men have done to get women.

Vintage Lollipops - An undeniable fashion brilliance as well as an infectious love for fashion is a great reason to stalk this blog.

The Vintage Year- a practical and interesting story of a fashionista who has decided not to buy new clothes for a whole year.

These are a few of my current Fabulous Faves, and I am sure there will be many more!

Enjoi!
